Getting Started.

Hey guys just seeing who's interested in getting involved in putting an oh&s section together in our National forum?

Basically what we should be aiming to achieve is bring the nation of cycle messengers together on Cycling issues such as road and cycling safety and fair and ethical work practices.

We should be aiming to do a group collaberation that figures out what our problems are as messengers and cyclists and how we could solve these issues or make improvements regarding cycling and workplace safety. (And let the general public know that we are actually concerned about road safety eg. Not getting runover (apparently thats more or less pretty much all we care about))

How should we go about this?

What we could do is just create a little mailing list, this will include anyone and everyone who would like to be involved. And if anyone has any ideas they put it to everyone who is on the so called"committee" and give it a week or so for some constructive feedback and replies then tweak the idea a little and submit it to our national oh&s section.

Eventually we will have a compilation of stuff that is ready to be utilised and proposed to certain groups and institutions when the time is right.eg...(click on the link below)

This was a cbd mobility forum for NSW... As you can see cyclists did not have enough group representation in this. Our (cyclists) submissions were heavily outnumbered by Taxi associations, Bus companies and other groups like that.

Does it sound like a lot of effort? Its not really unless you want it to be. All you need to do is say if your interested... You'll be put on the mailing list and you can just read through the emails and give us your constructive feedback if you have any. Or you can bring up your own personal issues and offer your own ideas and suggestions...

This way everything that gets compiled can be considered a group effort instead of just one person ranting...

At the moment there is one person from Sydney, one person from Perth, two people from Melbourne and two people from Adelaide who are interested. It would be great to have as many messengers (current or ex) involved as possible. We really need Brisbanites to get involved in particular.

I think our first aim should be to make a submission for the 2020 summit where "climate change is apparently the hot topic" (they are still accepting submissions)

So yep who's interested? (All you have do to is email me doddrag@hotmail.com saying your keen and you will be included in the email list)

Cheers.
